Spanish “Aladina” Foundation Provides Donation to City of Smile to Help Children with Cancer
February 02, 2021
2020 was a very challenging year for Armenia and for the Armenian people. The Covid-19 pandemic, then the Artsakh war that launched on September 27, have driven the country into a humanitarian crisis. Naturally, all the attention and support of Armenia and the Diaspora were focused on the solution of the problems caused by war and post-war situation.
The problems of many target groups, including children with cancer and blood disorders, were pushed into the background, which in turn led to a very sharp decrease in donations to our foundation. This situation could become a serious threat to ensuring the continuity of the needed treatment for the beneficiaries of our City of Smile.
In this very challenging and difficult times for both our country and our Foundation, Aladina Foundation (Fundación Aladina) reached out to us with a helping hand. Aladina donated US$160,000 to City of Smile, which gave us hope and strength to continue our mission of saving lives. This donation will be fully used to cover treatment costs of hundreds of kids and young adults in Armenia who have cancer or blood disorders.
We are profoundly grateful for this donation. We hope to continue our cooperation in the future.
Aladina Foundation was founded in 2005 in Spain, by movie producer Paco Arango. The main area of support of the foundation are Emotional, Psychological and Material. Foundation’s activities are mainly concentrated in Spain and it has supported about 1500 children with cancer in 15 hospitals of Spain.
City of Smile Foundation is honored to be among the first organizations to benefit from Aladina’s international programs.
