The First Pediatric Palliative Care Clinic of Armenia was Opened

By the initiative and funding of City of Smile Foundation and with the advisory support of US-based St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the first pediatric palliative care clinic of Armenia was opened today at the Hematology Center after Prof. R. Yeolyan․ The mission of the pediatric palliative care is to provide physical, sensory and spiritual care to children whose diseases do not respond to treatment, in order to improve the quality of life of patients and their families as much as possible. The clinic has 5 patient rooms, a playroom and a kitchen. There are also specially adapted bathrooms in all patient rooms.
We express our deepest gratitude to the benefactors for being by the Foundation’s side and for their contribution to the implementation of this extremely important project: Ameriabank CJSC, Focus on Children Now – FCN, Shushi Armenian Dance Ensemble, Serj and Araksya Angelians. In the world practice, palliative care is one of the necessary components of the comprehensive services provided to children with cancer, and we are grateful that it is now available to our children and their families, too.
