We would like to share the story of our Gagik’s success and victory with you.
At the age of 19, when Gagik Hakobyan was serving in the Armed Forces of Armenia, he began feeling sick. After undergoing medical examinations, he was diagnosed with cancer—Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Right after the diagnosis, with full financial support from the City of Smile Charitable Foundation, Gagik embarked on his journey to fight cancer.
Despite the challenges of the treatment, Gagik was sure that he would win this fight. He tried to continue living as normally as possible. Being a talented duduk player, Gagik received invitations to perform at multiple concerts while
undergoing treatment. It was really exciting to hear that he did not refuse the offer. In between chemotherapy sessions Gagik was able to perform at various concerts.
During treatment sessions, Gagik also participated in an international duduk competition—festival, and won the first place.
After more than a year of treatment, Gagik won the battle of life. Now, 23 years old Gagik has closed this chapter and is living his normal life—raising awareness about cancer and reminding everyone that cancer is not a verdict. Having loved the stage since childhood, Gagik now performs with various renowned ensembles and bands playing traditional armenian instruments.
