The Annual Charity Gala Dinner of “City of Smile” Foundation Took Place
We are pleased to announce that the Annual Charity Dinner of City of Smile Foundation was held on November 8 at Dvin Complex, co-organized by Tovmasyan Charity Foundation and Our Music For You Charity Foundation. Honorary guests of the evening were Nicola and Christina Aznavours, Academician of the Russian National Academy of Sciences, Chief Pediatric Hematologist of Russia, Chairman of the Center of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology after D. Rogachev, PhD, Prof. Alexander Rumyantsev and Head of Blood Transfusion Division of the same center, prof. Pavel Trakhtman. The event was attended by many businessmen, art, culture, public figures, doctors. Speeches at the Gala Dinner were delivered by the Spouse of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Foundation Anna Hakobyan, Director of the Hematology Center named after prof. R. Yeolyan Samvel Danielyan and Professor Alexander Rumyantsev. The Executive Director of the Foundation, Ester Demirtshyan, presented the annual report of the Foundation’s activities. Joef Gipsy Kings Family, Garik and Sona performed during the evening. Soloist of Joef Gipsy Kings Family Joseph Fargier had promised a gift to our talented 12-year-old Arkady Melkonyan during his previous visit to the Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Center this summer and brought and presented the guitar to our Arkady. The latter, thanking for the precious gift, gifted Joseph with an Armenian duduk.
A charity auction was also held during the gala dinner, which featured the following lots: • Photo of Komitas with his inscription – provided by Ter-Minasyan’s granddaughter, member of the Board of Trustees Sona Azaryan; • Rudolph Khachatryan’s “Проявление образа” (Image Expression) – provided by Evocabank, • Ashot Tadevosyan’s “Spring Sun” painting – provided by the author, • Guitar with the signatures of legendary Gipsy Kings band members – provided by Our Music For You Charitable Foundation. • Anna Hakobyan’s gold pendant was also auctioned off. The auction lots were purchased by Apaven co-founders Gagik Aghajanyan and Arsen Ghazaryan, Moscow-based philanthropist Lilit Karapetyan and Vitaly Grigoryants Charitable Foundation. The evening was filled with pleasant surprises; after the purchase of Anna Hakobyan’s pendant, it was again gifted to Mrs. Hakobyan, and Ashot Tadevosyan’s painting and the guitar with the signatures of Gipsy Kings were presented to the Foundation. Karen Margaryan and Lilit Karapetyan also donated a T-shirt with the signatures of football players of Argentinean National Football Team and said that a more exciting surprise awaits us in the near future.
The charity auction raised a total of 38 million Armenian drams, which, along with the rest of the money raised during the evening, will help cover the costs of treatment of children and young adults with cancer and blood disorders.
